Holiday Sleigh

An original design
by Pat Campbell

In this workshop you will begin work on a single block and plan your very own Christmas wallhanging or full size quilt with a Jacobean flair. Included will be an intense color-study of the glorious fabric available today, and hands-on instruction in simplified, no-nonsense techniques for perfection in stitching. Quick methods of template making, marking designs on your background fabric and all of Pat's methods for round circles, smooth curves, and perfect points will be demonstrated.

Provided for you: pattern, pins, appliqué needles, and thread

You need to bring: thimble, pin cushion, sandpaper board*, scissors (embroidery-type and paper cutting), white marking pencil, mechanical lead pencil, one yard of background fabric (finished size will be 20" long by 27" wide), and a fat quarter for the sleigh.
Fabrics: A colorful assortment of fabrics: e.g., two-color prints (tone on tone), large tropicals, hand-dyes or hand painted fabrics, plus a variety of flower and leaf colors.

*For those who don't know, a sandpaper board is simply a small piece of fine sandpaper adhered to a piece of plywood, foamcore, old clip board or manila folder. Its purpose is to keep your fabric from moving while tracing templates.

Class time: 6 hours
Level of skill: All levels
Supply fee: $5.00
The Jacobean Holiday pattern will be available in class for $12.00
